In 2016, Steve recognized that the City of Kingston needed to do a better job supporting its arts and cultural sectors, whether it was our numerous not for profit organizations or our arts and culture-based businesses. It was through this work that the Director of Arts and Cultural Affairs position was born, and it has been key to bringing together all of Kingston wonderful arts and cultural efforts. The creation of this office, with the support of the Kingston Arts Commission, we have been able to achieve a variety of milestones.
- Created the City’s first Arts and Cultural Master Plan
- Opened an art gallery within City Hall that hosts exhibitions for voices and stories that don’t generally get heard within our community
- Host a variety of concerts, special events and educational talks
